Tiago Veiga is a Master's Student at the Department of Conservation and Restoration at FCT NOVA, specialising in Conservation Science. In the framework of his master thesis, he is currently studying the 19th-century manufacture of madder lake pigments by Winsor & Newton, one of the leading paint manufacturers of the 19th century, that supplied specific products for hand-painting magic lantern slides. Madder colours were among those products, however, their presence in historical slides is yet to be found. Tiago's work aims to contribute to this challenging task.
