angelabs.arte@gmail.comÂngela Santos has a PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage - Conservation Science developed at the Department of Conservation and Restoration and VICARTE Research Unit of NOVA University of Lisbon. She has Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Conservation and Restoration, with specialisation in stained-glass and glass painting materials (namely the sanguine paint). Her research has focused on the materials’ analytical characterisation, their preservation, and the study of history and techniques of artistic productions, particularly painted glass materials, including stained glass and painted magic lantern glass slides. The Society of Glass Technology awarded her the 2018 Oldfield Award (2nd place) for her Master's thesis project, "Sanguine Paint: Production, Characterisation, and Adhesion to the Glass Substrate", and in 2019 the work developed with Márcia Vilarigues, Vanessa Otero and Beatriz Rodrigues during her PhD project "Lanterna Magica - Technology and Preservation of Painted Glass Slides for Projection with Magic Lanterns" received a Mervyn Heard Special Commendation Award by The Magic Lantern Society (UK).
