Marta Soares completed her PhD in Art History by the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2023. She has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the project since September 2024. Marta has participated in several conferences, and published articles on Portuguese modernism in journals and exhibition catalogues, having collaborated with the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and the Pompidou Centre. Together with Professor Raquel Henriques da Silva, she curated the exhibition Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso / Porto Lisboa / 2016 - 1916 at Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis and Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea – Museu do Chiado in 2016 and 2017.  While researching modernism, animation, visual culture, art theory and historiography, Marta is especially fond of interartistic, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. She has published in Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, and is currently a member of the Society for Animation Studies.
