luisagomes@fcsh.unl.ptLuísa Gomes completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in musical sciences at the NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities. In 2012, she presented her master's thesis, in the field of historical musicology, entitled "Operetta in Portugal at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century: Tição Negro by Augusto Machado (1902)". She was fellow researcher for the project "Teatro para rir: a comédia musical nos teatros de língua portuguesa (1849-1910)". As a scholarship holder, she carried out research into the work of composer Augusto Machado (1845-1924) and transcribed the operettas "A Guitarra" and "O Califa da Rua do Sabão". In her research she has been interested in the repertoire of musical comedy in Portugal at the end of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, especially the processes of comicality and the criticism and reception by the press. Since 2014 she has been the editorial assistant of the new series of Revista Portuguesa de Musicologia. She has also been supporting the editors of other editorial projects at CESEM since September 2015, as an FCT scholarship holder.
