M. Teresa Girão da Cruz has been dedicated to a career in science communication since 2007, focusing on the impact of science and of science communication on society. She is currently the Director of the Botanic Garden, Uni. Coimbra, and a research scientist at the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet (CFE) and at the Science Museum where she was the Deputy Director for Collections (2019-2021). She has previously worked as a science communication manager at the Botanic Garden (2017-2019), as part of the Portuguese Research Infrastructure of Scientific Collections (PRISC), as an exhibition developer at the Science Museum (2015-2017), as the science communication officer for the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (2019-2014), and as the director of the Junior Science Centre at Biocant – Biotechnology Innovation Center (2007-2009). She was a post-doc fellow at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto, Canada, 2005-2007) and she holds a Ph.D. in Biochemical Technology (Univ. Coimbra, 2005).
